The route is characterised, in its greater part, of good quality asphalt with low vehicle circulation. A dirt road, 15km long, is found approximately in the middle of the route. The ride consists of 5 climbs; the three middle ones are of average grade between 5% and 7%, which are less than 5km each. Owing to the morphology of the mountain mass of Ochi, the rider has to climb small parts of more than 13% average grade. The first contact with the Aegean sea is particularly impressive, especially during the last descent, it’s quite joyful.
This is one of the world’s most beautiful coastal routes! Cycle along the Athens Riviera towards the ancient temple of Poseidon at Cape Sounio.
This route is of minor difficulty, apart from a small segment that was purposely selected due to its panoramic view. It is a 87 km ride on excellent asphalt. The circulation of vehicles maybe high during rush hour so the exact time of departure will be chosen wisely. Afterwards, the rider has to cover a steep, 5km long climb of a total elevation gain of 353m. As the circulation of vehicles reduces, the ride becomes smoother and the view of the Saronic Gulf consists a faithful riding companion till it reaches its end, in the imposing Ancient Temple of Poseidon, God of the sea at Sounio.
